The idea

Meal Mysteries started with a simple question: can you identify a dish from just five clues? Not a photo, not a recipe title — just sensory hints, cultural context, and the kind of details that only someone who truly knows food would catch.

Every Tuesday and Friday, we publish a new mystery. Five clues. One dish. You guess, you learn, and then you get the full recipe, the backstory, and a food fact you can drop at your next dinner party. Our puzzles span every continent and every cuisine — from street food stalls in Penang to mountain kitchens in Georgia.

We believe that food is the most universal language, and that behind every dish is a story about people, place, and tradition. Meal Mysteries is our way of sharing those stories — one puzzle at a time.
